Decolonise The Body

Decolonial practice in somatic movement is a transformative approach that recognises the pervasive influence of systemic oppression, both externally and internally, within all of us.

At its core, decolonial practice empowers individuals to interrogate the layers of cultural and societal norms that have been imposed upon them. This process enables individuals to unravel white supremacist ideologies and begin the work of discovering the body beyond colonial influence.  It  embraces the importance of ancestral healing, spiritual mysticism,  and wisdoms, acknowledging that these aspects of human experience have often been overlooked or diminished within dominant Western paradigms, particularly from an epistemological standpoint.

There exists a significant gap and disconnection in how diverse cultures and communities are represented in wellness spaces, as well as in the valuation of their unique wellness practices, if they are acknowledged at all. Decolonial practice seeks to disrupt this norm and find equity for all.

My ethos acknowledges the systemic issues rooted in our shared colonial history. As a somatic practitioner, I work toward an inclusive practice that supports rediscovery of the body beyond colonial influence.
